Job Description The Electrical System Engineer is responsible for the electrical design and development of quality products using sound engineering judgement, to meet the communicated company/department goals. Responsible for the electrical design and control system integration of CNC Grinding Machines in the Machine Tool market. This includes design, development, and validation of quality products using sound engineering judgement and standards to meet the product requirements. Roles & Responsibilities: Safety: Ensure the working environment is safe at all times and activities conducted are safe and don't harm oneself or others. Maintain Safety compliance with the relevant legislation and regulations for safe working practices and functional compliance. Eliminate risks in the working environment by conducting housekeeping, conducting risk assessments and working the line manager to eliminate or at least mitigate the hazards. Report incidents such as near miss, accident or equipment damage using the reporting system. Design Assignments & Delivery: Liaise with Branches, Customers and Operations during the preliminary design stage to accurately determine the customer requirements from a technical perspective. Prepare up-to-date and accurate Bills of materials in a timely manner. Provide technical support for manufacturing, applications and service engineers. Implement the engineering & technical standards required in the different product lifecycle phases. Prepare the detailed time estimation and financial analyses in support of projects. Develop and work to clear specifications based on the business requirements and analysis. Electrical design of machine control and automation equipment for cost effectiveness, ease of manufacture and optimum reliability. This includes component selection, cabinet design, electrical design and drafting (EPLAN), BOM management, and testing/troubleshooting. Apply the requirements of the European CE Directives/Regulation throughout the product development process. Data Management: Prepare necessary support documentation for project, to aid the installation of product using set technical and process standards. Follow appropriate business system workflows to ensure data integrity and provide continuous improvement. Follow appropriate business system workflows to ensure resources are used in an optimised fashion. Design Quality Management: Accept accountability for the technical accuracy of calculations and completion of programs. Liaise with engineering team during the design stage to ensure design concepts are best practice and allocate layout, detail and design drafting phases. Review and recommend changes to standard practices. Oversee systems for storage and retrieval of both CAD, project data and source control. Apply the requirements of the European CE Directives/Regulation throughout the product development process. Lean Design & Continuous Improvement Conduct cost-benefit analysis on all continuous improvement projects to aid justification in departmental objectives. Initiate improvement projects based on data analysis and extensive research.
