TP Human Capital is partnering with a government client in Townsville to recruit a Senior Communications and Marketing Officer on temp role until September 2025, with the possibility of extension. Position Overview Reporting to the Head of Stakeholder Engagement, the Senior Communications and Marketing Officer supports the delivery of communication strategies and community engagement activities. The role provides strategic advice, planning, and training under the IAP2 framework and helps build strong partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders to advance organisational goals. Key Responsibilities Collaborate within the Engagement team and across departments to ensure effective collection and distribution of communication materials that support project delivery and foster positive, customer-focused engagement outcomes. Work closely with internal departments to understand engagement needs and provide tactical advice and support for effective community engagement activities. Identify and analyse sensitive or contentious issues and contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate strategies and responses. Deliver best practice engagement advice and services in line with the IAP2 framework, including the facilitation of community consultation and the early identification of emerging issues. Create and manage communication content for a range of audiences and channels, ensuring messages are clear, purposeful, and aligned with broader strategic objectives. Handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and integrity. Key Requirements Tertiary qualifications in Communications or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years equivalent experience in a similar role. IAP2 certification in community engagement. Extensive knowledge of current communication and engagement practices, trends, and tools. Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering communications and engagement strategies and campaigns. Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging across a variety of platforms. Experience working on complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
