About the role Mater has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Speech Pathologist to join the team in a Permanent full time capacity located at our South Brisbane campus. This Speech Pathologist provides care for adult inpatients of Mater Private Hospital and Mater Hospital Brisbane who present with communication and swallowing difficulties across a variety of clinical specialities. Service areas include general medicine, general surgery, oncology, neurosciences, ICU, and rehabilitation, as well as adult outpatients if required. Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 access to many staff benefits! What you’ll be doing Independently undertake routine clinical practice within established clinical protocols to achieve patient focussed outcomes Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers in the delivery of clinical services Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within professional and multidisciplinary teams Identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve clinical services and patient outcomes Actively participate in translating research into practice Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with patients, their families/carers and external agencies to facilitate patient centred care Participate in continuing professional development activities to further develop clinical practice and expertise Contribute to the learning and development of the team through clinical education and clinical supervision Apply increasing clinical judgement to more complex cases under clinical practice supervision About you To be successful in the role you will have the following: Possess a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology; Hold current membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) or be eligible for membership; Current Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status is highly desirable. Be eligible to receive a provider number through Medicare; Previous experience in acute and rehabilitation hospital adult speech pathology services would be highly regarded The ability to participate in a weekend roster The ability to work flexibly and increase as needed would be highly regarded Why join us?
