Head Stockman | Soudan Station, NT | Permanent Full-Time | Commence on station now! The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares and home of Five Founders Beef. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 14 stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD. Soudan Station, NT Soudan Station runs approx. 22,000 head of cattle and is located on the Barkly Highway, 1 hour west of Camooweal and is home to NAPCo’s heifer hub. This is an exciting opportunity for a Head Stockman to join the team of approximately 15 people. The Role The Head Stockman will lead a small collaborative crew of approximately 7 station hands ensuring the efficient and effective operations of the stock camp. For this position, you will need to be flexible, organised and have great communication skills. This position reports to and works closely with the Soudan Station Manager and commences on station now. Day to day duties include: Running the stock camp Communicating clearly and leading by example Mustering on horseback and motorbikes Undertaking general station duties Operating machinery / trucks (on occasion) Ideally the successful candidate will have: Experience working as a Leading Hand or Head Stockman on a cattle station An effective communication style and strong leadership skills Excellent livestock handling skills, of a quiet and sensible nature Strong horsemanship and/or motorbike riding skills Organisational and record keeping skills Be committed to working safely in accordance with NAPCo's HSE policies and procedures A MR, HR or HC Licence (or willingness to get one) Employee benefits Full-time Permanent Position Meals and air-conditioned accommodation provided NAPCo are proud to offer competitive pay, generous annual leave entitlements, travel reimbursement, season completion bonus and transfer opportunities between stations at the end of the year.
