About the role We are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineering Officer to join the Contestable Design and Certification team. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint throughout NSW. Contestable Design are responsible for managing the design aspects of a contestable connection or augmentation of Essential Energy’s Network. We provide design information to connecting customers and review design submissions for certification. Contestable works is a growth area of the business as Essential Energy strives to fulfil its corporate objectives of driving connections and load and facilitating the uptake of Electric Vehicles. As a Design and Certification officer you would be responsible for providing high level technical advice to external clients, their consultants, project managers and Level 3 Accredited Service Providers. You will be preparing Design Information packs for Contestable Work projects and assessing and certifying the Design submissions to ensure that the proposed works are safe, maintainable, sustainable and compliant with Essential Energy’s network standards while maximising the satisfaction of all stakeholders. The role is also responsible for providing support to Construction Inspectors and other officers by providing advice on design and connection matters as required. We provide extensive internal "on the job" training and mentoring for people new to the role. About your experience Extensive experience in a similar role in the Energy/Electrical and/or Utilities Industry Sound understanding of energy regulatory legislation. Complete knowledge and application of current overhead and underground design philosophies, procedures, Australian standards and statutory requirements including Safety in Design. Demonstrated experience in utilising analytical skills and technical knowledge to provide appropriate solutions to technical/engineering issues. About You Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage diverse and complex issues. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver technical services in a professional and timely manner Strong attention to detail and commitment to produce quality work.
