Description The City of Parramatta is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Contracts, Purchasing & Compliance Officer to support the delivery of efficient, compliant, and value-driven procurement practices. This role is essential in ensuring Council’s purchasing activities align with policy, suppliers meet expectations, and internal stakeholders are supported to achieve best value for money. About the role As a Contracts, Purchasing & Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in embedding procurement discipline across Council, supporting contract management, and ensuring compliance with purchasing policies and procedures. You will: Provide customer-focused procurement support to internal teams and external suppliers. Assist in the coordination of supply functions and the development of procurement strategies and policies. Maintain and update the centralised contracts management database and corporate contracts register. Monitor procurement queues and ensure timely processing of orders and invoices. Deliver training and act as a help desk for procurement systems and procedures. Conduct daily compliance reviews of purchase orders and amendments, and support staff in resolving issues. Assist with the review and development of procurement policies, training manuals, and system documentation. Manage supplier records, including onboarding, amendments, and periodic deactivation reviews. Support procurement research and recommend sourcing strategies to achieve best value. Participate in procurement-related projects, system testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with legislative and governance standards, and contribute to a culture of ethical procurement. Promote workplace health and safety, diversity, and customer service excellence. About You We’re looking for a motivated and organised professional with a strong understanding of procurement, contract administration, and compliance. You will bring: Essential Skills & Experience Certificate in Purchasing or a business-related discipline. Broad knowledge of purchasing, compliance, and contract management processes. Experience with ERP financial systems (OneCouncil preferred). Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong understanding of procurement policy and governance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Strong analytical and numeracy skills. Knowledge of the Local Government Act and procurement legislation. Experience in purchasing systems, contract administration, and tendering. Desirable Experience in a similar role within local government. High-level interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and support staff. Demonstrated ability to deliver quality customer service and build strong relationships. Extensive experience in an ERP finance environment. What’s on offer We are offering an attractive remuneration from $93,458 to $102,919 plus 11.5% superannuation.
