The Role Our client has recently invested in three properties located close to Grenfell, NSW, only a 30-minute drive to Young and Cowra, with plans in place to expand the operation again soon. These properties cover 3,800 acres of prime farming land and currently carry 3,500 SRS Merino ewes, some of which are being crossed to terminal rams for prime lamb production, along with 120 breeding cows. The country offers unlimited opportunities for mixed farming operations, and the owners have a vision to see the property increase carrying capacity with the ability to finish lambs and trade livestock through a pasture improvement program, along with timely management and increasing soil fertility. There is a small fodder cropping program across 300 acres per year used for weed clean-up and pasture establishment, which could be expanded. As the farm hand, you will be required to work alongside the manager and the owner, completing day-to-day tasks that involve, but are not limited to, sheep and cattle husbandry, fencing and water maintenance, feeding livestock in a small feedlot operation, mustering on buggies with dogs, infrastructure improvements, and Tractor operations, including sowing, spraying, and spreading. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who either wants a step in the door to the agricultural industry or someone who wants the opportunity in the future for career progression. If you have the right attitude and willingness to learn, training will be provided. The Offer An attractive remuneration package, along with accommodation and power supply, will be negotiated based on experience. Accommodation includes a two-bedroom cottage on the farm with a new kitchen, air conditioning, a wood fireplace, a house yard, and a carport. The property is located 17 km from Grenfell, a lovely small town that offers schools, supermarkets, and other basic necessities. All other major necessities can be found 45 minutes to an hour from the property in Cowra, Forbes, or Young. The Ideal Candidate You should ideally have a passion for agriculture, especially in livestock husbandry, and show a strong interest in learning and improving your skills.
