Be part of a small, but highly productive team, as a Senior Station Hand at Karn Station, situated only 10 kms from Benalla, north-east Victoria. Our client operates a progressive agricultural business within the beef and fat lamb sectors, embracing modern technology to foster innovation within their operations. Comprising of 1700 ha, divided into 130, 20 ha paddocks utilising cell fencing and central water troughs, our client's main focus is their self-replacing, genomically screened herd of 950 predominantly Angus cows, with an emphasis on Low Stress Stock Handling. A small portion of these Elite cows undergo a stringent AI program. To complement this, Karn Station runs 3,500 Lambpro composite ewes, finishing all lambs in a feedlot on farm. In addition, a further 1000 weaners are also given the opportunity to reach mature weight on farm, as guided by the Carbon Neutral Coles Program. As this is an intensive mixed livestock operation, you will be required to assist with all animal husbandry duties and stock movements (on horseback if preferred) with the assistance of a working dog team. The operation also conducts annual pasture renovation programs, including a 90 Ha centre pivot, producing high quality hay and silage harvested by independent contractors. The farming infrastructure is of excellent and modern quality, well maintained, with 3 sets of cattleyards, and a set of sheepyards containing a Clipex Sheephandler. Data collection and analysis are an integral part of this role, you will be included in management's daily decision-making processes, and possess the capacity to work autonomously when required.
