The Employer & The Role The farm operates sheep, cattle and cropping across two properties totalling 2,509 hectares, where they manage a flock of 5,000 first-cross ewes and 540 Angus breeders, while also cropping approximately 150 hectares each year with canola, wheat, and lucerne hay. The owner is retiring and this has opened up an opportunity for a manager to join this well run family business. This is a comprehensive hands-on manager’s role that will require you to balance hands-on elements with administrative tasks, reporting directly to the family manned board of directors and supported by an existing full-time employee, with the ability to engage an additional 2-3 casual workers as needed during busier periods. Utilising your previous stock experience, you will be responsible for planning and undertaking all animal husbandry elements. Mustering is conducted using quad bikes and side-by-sides, with a strong emphasis on low-stress stock handling. While dogs may be used for handling sheep, they are not used when handling cattle. The farm is well equipped with 3 tractors, trucks, sowing and hay equipment, boom sprayers, and spray carts, making its operation more efficient.
