A great opportunity exists for an experienced Service Technician to join our friendly Bendigo Service Team. Based in our fully equipped service centre in Bendigo, this role will report to the Service Manager. All tools, equipment and PPE are supplied for this role. The Service Technician is responsible for servicing, testing and repairing a nominated range of products ensuring the equipment conforms with company operating specifications and customer requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: The Service Technician is responsible for: - Performing varied mechanical work involved in repair, maintenance and servicing of turf maintenance related equipment, recycling equipment and tractors using common tools of the trade for Toro Australia's clients. - The repair of major systems such as diesel and gasoline fueled engines, hydrostatic transmissions or hydraulic systems are included in this class when performed as part of the total repair to the type of equipment described above. - Locating worn, dirty or improperly adjusted parts through visual inspection or through the use of test and diagnostic equipment - Removing, repairing and replacing engines, transmissions, differentials, electrical, and other major components, using appropriate tools to safely perform the procedure. - Disassembling components and inspecting parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, thickness gauges and other appropriate measuring devises. - Adjusting valves, checking compression, and isolating major engine related failures. - Locating electrical shorts, diagnosing cause and making necessary repairs in accordance with electrical wiring repair procedures, outlined in product service manual. - Testing of equipment using appropriate diagnostic equipment required to check suspected components - Undertaking parts ordering, invoicing work performed, gathering service information, or any other function performed by the service department in accordance with Toro systems and procedures - Performing periodic preventive and corrective maintenance on customer installations - Discussing equipment malfunctions with the equipment operator(s) - Responding to requests for emergency repair troublesome equipment - Providing product service training to clients as directed by State Service Manager - Ensuring all service centre activities comply with legal and ethical standards - Accepting and adhering to all WHSE responsibilities, policies, procedures and safe work practices related to the position Job Specifications: The Service Technician must have: - Experience in the maintenance and repair of various types of turf equipment, recycling equipment or construction equipment such as tractors, lawn mowers, garden tractors, line trimmers or golf course equipment. - Ability to interpret engineering drawing, including parts breakdown drawings and simple electrical schematics - Ability to determine mechanical defects which cause engine, transmission, hydraulic or electrical system component failure - Ability to dissemble, rebuild, reassemble, adjust, reinstall and align various components in accordance with established product standards - Ability to use test and diagnostic equipment in order to determine the cause of mechanical or electrical problems - Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish effective business relationships with internal and external customers - Polite and professional phone manner - Accept a flexible work environment and has the ability to respond to continual changing of priorities - A valid Australian Motor Vehicle License Why Toro?
