Audit & Risk Committee - External Member The Audit & Risk Committee (the Committee) is an advisory committee to Isaac Regional Council (Council) that is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to Council regarding financial management, risk management, governance, internal controls, legislative compliance, internal and external audit planning and reporting. The emphasis is on improving performance, transparency and managing risk within Council. Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified and experienced applicants seeking the role of an independent member of the Committee. The expected term of appointment will be for an initial period of two (2) years, with two (2) possible extensions up to six (6) years. The successful applicant may be invited to assume the role of Chairperson during their tenure. Role Requirements: Act in accordance with the Audit & Risk Policy and Charter at all times. Ensure that the Committee operates in line with accepted best practice in terms of Corporate Governance. Attend formal Committee meetings, as well as other ad hoc meetings and to sit on Committee Sub-Committees as required. Offer guidance, support, expertise and an objective perspective on the key matters of strategy, governance, financial matters and risk management. Act as an unbiased, objective and impartial member of the Committee, ensuring that all considerations and recommendations are in the best long-term interests of Isaac Regional Council, its stakeholders and employees. Assist in resolving any conflicts of interest that might arise within the Committee and between the Committee and Isaac Regional Council. Offer advice and guidance in a consultative capacity to members of the Committee, Isaac Regional Council, Chief Executive Officer, CFO and other Senior Managers as required. The suitable candidate will have: relevant tertiary qualification, membership of a relevant, recognised professional body (highly desirable), Knowledge in risk management systems and procedures, particularly in context to local government, Knowledge in local government internal business controls, including internal and external audit requirements, Experience in risk management systems and procedures, particularly in a local government context.
