We have an exciting opportunity open for a Supervisor of Construction based in Fort Smith, AR.
Position Summary
The Supervisor of Construction will be responsible oversight of the installation and maintenance of natural gas distribution facilities in accordance with Company O&M as well as local state and federal regulations.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Adhere to company safety guidelines and standards; follow safety rules and regulations to promote a positive safety culture.
- Responsible for the oversight of Gas Distribution Pipeline Systems and crews in the field.
- Responsible for all construction field activity including:
- Monitoring progress of crews to ensure conformance to plans and specifications as outlined in the company’s technical guidelines and applicable regulations.
- Cost control of assigned projects.
- To successfully perform the duties required this position must:
- Perform inspections, read, and interpret plans and specifications, maintain daily construction records, document daily work activities, ensure quality of work, and perform material testing.
- Adhere to environmental standards and exhibit environmental awareness.
- Make responsible decisions in the field for the required work to be accomplished.
- Assist with testing of new employees and requalifying existing employees.
- Manage projects and budgets to remain in compliance.
- Stay current with all required Operator Qualification (OQ) standards by passing required field evaluations and tests for continuing natural gas education (DOT Operational Qualifications)
- Ensure compliance with OQ, MPUC 420 and 895 Rules, Federal 192 Code, and company O&M.
Education And Work Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum five years working in the field of gas construction.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to ensure proper completion of construction and maintenance projects through the understanding of company plans and specifications.
- General knowledge of the pipeline specifications
- Thorough understanding of pipeline repair methods
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook
- Strong understanding of positive safety guidelines
- Ability to work well with employees and contractors.
- Ability to create work orders and PR requests in Oracle.
- Strong working knowledge of all stopple operations and equipment
- Ability to exhibit company P.E.A.K.S values.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of OSHA confined space requirements preferred.
