Job Opportunity: Construction Estimator
Location: HQ – Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan
Status: Full-time
Compensation Estimate: $120,000-150,000
Darby Construction Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team in New York City. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, responsible for accurately assessing project costs and providing comprehensive bids that contribute to our continued success.

We specialize in full-scope general contracting, interior construction, structural and architectural demolition, and comprehensive project management across a variety of sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, retail, and industrial.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to identify scope of work and project requirements.
· Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for various construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct costs.
· Obtain and analyze quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
· Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of current market pricing and industry trends.
· Prepare bid packages and proposals in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
· Collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders during the pre-construction process.
· Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
· Identify potential risks and opportunities within the project scope and estimate.
· Maintain organized and accurate records of all estimating activities.
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of our estimating processes and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
· Proven experience as an Estimator in the New York City construction market is preferred.
· Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes across various sectors (commercial, residential, etc.).
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents.
· Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
· Proficiency in relevant estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
· Familiarity with local building codes and regulations is a plus.
