Performs a variety of work related to inspections
Essential Duties
Essential Duties
- Responsible for inspecting road and sewer construction contract work in progress to ensure compliance with the contract plans and specifications.
- Taking measurements, making sketches, recording field data, and assisting the construction survey crew.
- Maintaining daily construction records and/or preparing monthly reports.
Conditions Of Employment
Ability to work under safe conditions indoors and outdoors where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little, to no risk, of injury.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and a good driving record
- Reliable transportation to, from and during work hours
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Must be able to understand and interpret engineering roadway design plans and specifications.
- Must be able to interpret the State of Wisconsin Standard Specifications for Highway and Structure Construction, and Sewer and Water Construction, current editions.
- Must be able to interpret the Part 6 of the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) relating to Temporary Traffic Control.
- Must be able to travel to multiple construction sites while transporting self and required equipment.

Physical Demands Of The Position
Ability to effectively communicate by both oral and written means. Standing, walking, sitting, and stooping. Kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, and bending/twisting. Reaching, feeling, talking, and hearing. Lifting, carrying, pushing /pulling, up to 50 pounds. Handling, grasping, and fingering: typing, writing, etc.

Engineer’s scale, measuring tape, calculator, equipment for testing concrete slump & air, equipment for preparing concrete test cylinders
