The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Construction Inspector or Senior Construction Inspector classification. The hourly range for the Construction Inspector is $26.14 - $30.06 and the hourly rate for the Senior Construction Inspector position is: $28.82 – $33.14.

As a Construction Inspector with the City of Plano you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the excellence of construction projects, infrastructure, and utilities within our city. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact, work with diverse projects, and be part of a dynamic team.
By Becoming a Construction Inspector You Will
- Be the boots on the ground, conducting on-site inspections of construction projects, water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and the city-maintained infrastructure, including streets, alleys, and drainage channels.
- Don your detective hat as you investigate and respond to complaints related to easements, streets, alleys, right-of-ways, and construction activities. Collaborate with contractors and other departments to coordinate project activities.
- Dive into the community by inspecting privately maintained sites, meeting with Homeowner's Associations, and engaging with residents on easement issues. Your expertise will help resolve complaints and identify maintenance responsibilities.
- Keep the adventure alive by maintaining accurate asset records and a daily log of your assigned projects, ensuring nothing goes unnoticed.
- Be the City's hero by evaluating street, alley, and sidewalk conditions, determining the work needed in specific areas. You'll inspect sanitary sewers and participate in the rehabilitation of sewer mains, manholes and service laterals.
